Bill died in the Line of Duty during a training exercise on Friday, January 6, 2012, when he fell from the top of a 100' aerial unit. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation. Bill was one of the most competent and capable firefighters on the job and was known and loved by everyone who served with him. We welcome all fire service members that may wish to attend the funeral services described below:

There will be an official fire service procession. Due to the expected number of apparatus and marked vehicles, all departments are asked to limit their procession units to two (2) per agency. All agencies wishing to participate are asked to please RSVP to the Process/Staging Officer listed in the contacts section of this announcement. All inbound participating fire apparatus and marked vehicles are asked to stage at Pompano Citi Centre's southwest parking lot no later than 9:00 AM. Citi Centre is a shopping mall located at the corner of U.S. #1 and Copans Road. The funeral procession is expected to be sizeable. Fire service agencies are asked to coordinate with the Procession/Staging Officer to insure control and safety. Contact information is listed below. The procession will begin at Citi Center in Pompano Beach and arrive at Calvary Chapel in Ft. Lauderdale. This route is approximately 7.5 miles. The Broward Sheriff's Office will provide traffic control and escort services.
BURIAL: As the family has chosen cremation, there will no procession to a cemetery.
All attendees are invited to attend a reception back at 1st Baptist Church of Pompano Beach immediately following the formal funeral service. Firefighters' Local Union 3080 will also host a reception at their hall next door to the church for fire service members at approximately the same time.
