Crime Intelligence Technician

(2 positions)

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum requirement(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (1) A high school diploma or its equivalent and three years of experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, or in a law enforcement agency.  (2) Vocational/technical training in law enforcement or any college course work from an accredited institution can substitute for the required experience at the rate of 30 semester, 45 quarter or 720 classroom hours per year of experience.

DUTIES: This is work receiving, abstracting, and summarizing data pertaining to criminal activities and assisting the special agent supervisor and special agents in preparing crime intelligence information for use in law enforcement activities. The incumbent conducts criminal, investigative and intelligence records checks with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies; assesses information developed and reviews data for accuracy and completeness; ensures that each record check is appropriately documented and maintained in the case file in a timely manner and is accurate and complete; maintains highly confidential files, records and/or databases relating to criminal intelligence; performs administrative duties including making copies of case files and other materials, disseminating material upon request, and creating spreadsheets for tracking of data; requests information from multiple sources for investigative purposes; and compiles information through use of computer terminals and records and reports.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Knowledge of the procedures and techniques for effective communication; Ability to read and understand criminal intelligence data; Ability to collect, evaluate, and summarize criminal intelligence data; Ability to collate and file criminal intelligence data; Ability to review large amounts of criminal intelligence data and to determine the significance, completeness, and usefulness of the date; Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments; Ability to communicate effectively; and Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

NOTE: Applicants being considered for employment must pass a drug screen and background investigation which will include a financial credit check. Responses to qualifying questions will be credited only if verifiable by skills and/or experience listed on the employment application, including specifically required software/computer skills. The elements of the selection process may include a skills test and/or interview. Applicants may be notified by email to participate in a selection process. Failure to reply within a designated time frame may exclude the applicant from further consideration. Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or oral interview.
