Drug Safety for First Responders

Information

Drug Safety for First Responders

Information and safety data about fentanyl, carfentanil and other drugs for first responders and the public. Many fentanyl-related compounds are lethal and could be absorbed through the skin or inhaled. Law enforcement, Fire/EMS and volunteers on-scene should learn about these dangers and carefully follow safety protocols to avoid accidental exposure. Please use this group to share safety tips, protocols, articles and other discussions and experiences from the field.

The most lethal drugs in history.

Lethality:
Carfentanil is used as a tranquilizing agent for elephants and other large mammals. The
lethal dose range for carfentanil in humans is unknown; however, carfentanil is
approximately 100 times more potent than fentanyl, which can be lethal at the 2-
milligram range, depending on route of administration and other factors.

The Maine Attorney General's Office confirms a person in York County has died from the drug carfentanil. The drug has been used as an elephant tranquilizer and is described as 100 times more powerful than fentanyl. Officials in New Hampshire said carfentanil has been linked to three fatal overdoses there. Maine's first carfentanil overdose happened in April. it can take several weeks to get toxicology results back.

Appreciate the invite. we had a carfentanyl OD last night and it was NOT pretty. I think this is what is meant by the Zombie Apocalypse.
