Being a farm girl, I grew up burning trash. We did not have local garbage pickup and I shudder to think what we used to do! Of course packaging was different-more paper-less plastic. No days things have changed but some of our locals in my rural area have not. Perhaps it is our fault for not raising a greater awareness? We are great with smoke detectors, sprinklers, drop and roll, etc but where is our campaign about burning debris? I haven't see one in this area. I also think we have to take it to a certain level. Our rural culture demands a different form of education that an urban or suburban culture.
I whole-heartily agree with you Carole and I'm going to look into that myself.
Great tips Chief and I agree with Carole, rural culture does have a different educational need than urban dwellers. I too will look into building a campaign, then perhaps we can merge our information and present it to the USFA for consideration. Message me and let me know what you think.
