Chaplain Ronald Jones, Senior Chaplain

Location: Nationwide
Members: 47
Member Activity: Aug 16

Welcome All,

We are thankful for this day that you have given us, for its blessings, its opportunities, its challenges. May we appreciate and use each day that comes to us. We pray for strength and guidance for each day as it comes and for each day’s duties. May we be challenged to give our best always, and may we be assured of your presence with us. Amen.

Blessings,

CH Ron

A Snippet of History Regarding the Chaplain

“When George Washington assumed command of the Continental Army at Cambridge, Massachusetts, chaplains were already present for duty. Washington could count fifteen chaplains serving with the twenty-three regiments gathered around Boston. The Continental Congress gave the chaplains its official recognition on 29 July l775, when it voted pay for various officers and enlisted personnel in the Continental Army not previously covered in its resolution of l6 July.” Nearly a year later General George Washington issued the following General Order:”

July 9, 1776
The Hon. Continental Congress having been pleased to allow a Chaplain to each Regiment, with the pay of Thirty-three Dollars and one third pr month—The Colonels or commanding officers of each regiment are directed to procure Chaplains accordingly; persons of good Characters and exemplary lives—To see that all inferior officers and soldiers pay them a suitable respect and attend carefully upon religious exercises. The blessing and protection of Heaven are at all times necessary but especially so in times of public distress and danger—The General hopes and trusts that every officer and man will endeavor to live and act as becomes a Christian soldier defending the dearest rights and liberties of his country. Signed, George Washington

The ranks of World War II veterans are shrinking. The youngest are now in their mid-80s. About 650 die each day, and thousands are laid to rest every week according to a recent Associated Press story. This chaplain had the honor of presiding over a celebration of life service for one of these hero's this past Wednesday in South Carolina. Mr. Hardy, received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in WW II, at 88 years of age, Mr. Hardy was laid to rest, a humble man who answered this nations call to service. Let un never forget that freedom is not free, rest in peace my friend. CH Ron

Leo Buscaglia
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

Elizabeth Kubler-Ross
It is only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up that we will begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it were the only one we had.
