About Me
Working in the Alcohol and Drug Treatment field provided opportunities for great professional development and allowed me to hon my program development skills with special populations that often suffer from chronic relapse or high rates of recidivism. Working in an Adolescent Perinatal Treatment Program required innovation to engage this population while using child development skills & knowledge to address sexual abuse and developmental lags in the teen mom population while simultaneously addressing the alcohol and drug exposure of their babies.

Working collaboratively with San Diego Police Department, the Neighborhood Prosecutor's Office, the City Attorney, Community Members, and Health Care organizations to address threats to the well-being and welfare of our children resulted in sustainable, long-term solutions for the growing problem of prostitution and gang activity in Mid City.

Developing programs, such as the Proposition 36 Outpatient Program for individuals who were mandated to treatment, was challenging as we know that forced or coerced treatment is not always successful. Developing and implementing interactive curriculum that helped individuals identify triggers and relapse patterns allowed them to create effective relapse prevention plans while building recovery support networks.

Coordinating treatment programming in a residential setting required a high level of program development skills that afforded me an immense level of professional growth using a culmination of
quality assurance techniques, intensive focus on contract compliance, and the necessity to address medically necessary treatment for a chronic illness that can be life-threatening.

Working in mental health programs provided invaluable experience and a higher level of insight into the complexities of Co-occurring Disorders.

Launching a CPR/AED/First Aid Training business provides for-profit experience and allows me to contribute to saving lives in a different way.
