Safety Ropes

For all my New York friends, and others states you may want to check your laws on this.

The New york State Labor Department has begun to cite Fire Departments in New York State for violations of a recently enacted statute requiring that proper procedures be in place to prepare for the purchase of bail out and evacuation equipment for interior firefighters.
The statute required a Risk Assessment be accomplished by March 27, equipment be purchased by April 20 and training on the use of such equip… Continue

Problems

Hello All;

Here I sit looking out my window in my computer room/Command Post at home (scanner, 2 meter, HF radio's, computer) next to me and some time all are on at once. What a noise, but I am wondering how some of this stuff you read on web sites about Ambulances being taken, how about the one just lately where the meds were in the back working on someone and a drunk came up and took it for a ride, or you read radio's are missing, or other fire equipment missing from the fire

The Winter Driving and Tires

Well its Friday 2010 and the snow here is coming down pretty good, maybe not as much as where my wife's sister lives in Scotland as they had about 10cm before Christmas and now its doubled and they are talking about running out of salt/sand for the roadways, that is not good if all the snow states know what I mean, the driving becomes worst then with the salt/sand, this would shut them down for quite some time as they are not use to getting alot of snow, I believe they may get about 2 - 3 inches… Continue

Year End

First I want to say HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone one and I hope everyone got everything they wanted for Christmas and hope none of you drove after drinking any type of alcohol. And remember to wear your seat belt's and for those of us in the snow states, remember our winter driving skills, as I want to hear everyone back here in 2010. With that out of the way here goes nothing.

I have been looking and reading different mags. articles on the Police side and all the new techy stuff like the radar c… Continue

Firefighter Survial

This goes along with my recent photo's that I have added to my page, all these years we the training officers and Chief's and so on always showed us how to get into a fire and what we should do once we are in the structure, well now its time to do the same but also what we (firefighter) need to do on getting out in case of emergency or if we run into problems inside. This course was intensive training developed in response to the tragic deaths of many firefighters across the nation in the past s… Continue

LOL! Hey Bob, here's a little info on comments ... you should comment back to the person who commented to you on their profile. If you comment on your profile they will never see your thanks for the birthday wishes, comments or whatever else, unless they come to your page. When you comment back to someone on their profile, they will get an email alerting them that they have a comment. So, Etta and Tony won't see your thanks to them right now. OR you could send your thanks in the white status box (where you are wishing everyone a Merry Christmas) and all the members will see it, including Etta and Tony when they log on.

I hope I'm making sense to you, I worked the EMS shift and I haven't bed to bed yet.

Have a great day and stay warm!
