The Las Vegas Tragedy

I submit the following knowing many have questions and some may agree with while others may disagree with this analysis; it is not meant to be divisive. As a chaplain, I present this devotional from Pastor Greg Laurie as I personally believe he has addressed the age old question of "why" in a way that I concur with but may not present as well as he has. As chaplains we are recognized as a ministry of presence to all regardless of one's faith system or total lack thereof. That said, anyone who…See More

Paul Harvey’s essay on police.

Posted on December 22, 2014 at 6:09am 3 Comments

Paul Harvey was a nationally broadcast radio commentator known to a generation of people who enjoyed his now you know "The rest of the story" brand of reporting. Mr. Harvey died in 2009 but fortunately much of his work has been preserved and is relevant today. From the public domain and in light of the attack our nations hero's have come under, reflect upon the following. CH Ron

Harvey said: “A policeman is a composite of what all men are, I guess, a mingling of saint and sinner, dust…

This is just a great human interest story because it has a "happy" ending. My first thoughts were how could someone leave a baby in the woods to perish but then I focused on the positive aspect that God used a family pet to intervene in this child's life which allowed for a rescue. I shudder to think about what may have been but God has a plan for all our lives and this is just one more proof of that principle. (click continue to see picture) CH Ron…

To think a movable barricade could stop this nations hero's is folly. They arrive on honor flights to view the WWII Memorial that was funded primarily through private contributions, a memorial that symbolizes the ultimate sacrifice that was made by those who perished and to honor those who survived…

“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” -Plato

It has been said that everyone is either in the midst of the battle, just coming out of a battle, or about to enter the battle. As first responders we are keenly aware of this, as the tones sound, the alarms toll, the phone rings, we know we are about to enter the battle, often that of life and death. We risk all for people we have never met and will give all for those we love and…

Hi there Chaplain Thanks for the invite. It really is good to know you're taking over the Chaplain's Corner. We sure did need one. We had a few before you and all they did was promote themselves and outside interest. Miss Etta took it over and posted almost daily. Post weren't always commented on, but I read them daily, something I use to looking forward to. I'll pas the link to my buddies.

I really want to talk to someone about your organization and if it might be a good idea to have my organization do a join membership?
Our web-site is www.mscndr.org. We cover basically middle to West TN at this time. We have already done a joint membership plan with South East K9 Search & Rescue.
Our main goal is response to the "Victims" in any kind of disaster and we don't like the "turf protection" that goes on within the US. The victim doesn't really care who does what but rather "can you help me"? In my days of the USN, that was the way we all operated.
By the way, even though I was Navy, both my children went Army - go figure :-)
