Redmond Marine killed in Afghanistan

Friends and family described Lance Cpl. Eric L. Ward, a 19-year-old Marine from Redmond who died Sunday in Afghanistan, as a proud and generous man who kept everybody around him laughing. Lance Cpl. Ward died in a "hostile incident" in southern Afghanistan, the U.S. Department of Defense announced Tuesday.

HAMPTON, N.H. — A fire that started in an unoccupied oceanfront hotel was fanned by winds of near hurricane force and spread to adjacent buildings, engulfing and destroying an entire block of businesses, firefighters said. No injuries were reported.

The glow from the flames could be seen from miles away, a witness said.

Safety Ropes

For all my New York friends, and others states you may want to check your laws on this.

The New york State Labor Department has begun to cite Fire Departments in New York State for violations of a recently enacted statute requiring that proper procedures be in place to prepare for the purchase of bail out and evacuation equipment for interior firefighters.

The statute required a Risk Assessment be accomplished by March 27, equipment be purchased by April 20 and training on the… Continue

By COLLEEN LONG

A judge on Tuesday overturned negligent homicide and reckless endangerment convictions against the manager of an apartment building where tenants constructed a labyrinth of illegal walls that forced two firefighters to jump to their deaths to escape a surging blaze.

Federal authorities are connected the morning plane crash into a Northwest Austin building to a house fire in North Austin.

The fire broke out just before 9:30 a.m. near Parmer Lane and Metric Boulevard.

A neighbor told KEYE TV’s Erika Gonzalez that a teenager girl who lives in the home told him that her father started the fire.

Problems

Hello All;

Here I sit looking out my window in my computer room/Command Post at home (scanner, 2 meter, HF radio's, computer) next to me and some time all are on at once. What a noise, but I am wondering how some of this stuff you read on web sites about Ambulances being taken, how about the one just lately where the meds were in the back working on someone and a drunk came up and took it for a ride, or you read radio's are missing, or other fire equipment missing from the…

The Creation of the Firefighter

When the Lord was creating Firefighters, he was into his seventh day of creation when he should have been resting. An angel appeared to him and said, "Your doing a lot of fiddling around on this one." And the Lord said "Have you read the specifications on such a magnificant creature? Firefighters have to be able to go for hours fighting fires or tending to people that the usual every day person would never touch, while putting in the back of their mind the circumstances. They have to be able to… Continue

When The Lord was Creating Peace Officers

When the Lord was creating peace officers, he was into his sixth day of overtime when an angel appeared and said, "You're doing a lot of fiddling around on this one."

And the Lord said, "Have you read the spec on this order? A peace officer has to be able to run five miles through alleys in the dark, scale walls, enter homes the health inspector wouldn't touch, and not wrinkle his uniform.

"He has to be able to sit in an undercover car all day on a stakeout, cover a… Continue
