Last TGI Friday of 2008

In Sydney, Australia, it is already 2009! In a matter of hours we too will bid goodbye to a year that can be described as tumultuous.

In the words of Boo Boo Bear, "We Made it Yogi!" 2008 is about to be a memory. In the words of Colonel Sherman T Potter of M*A*S*H, "May the new year be a damn side better than this last one, and may we all be home with our families this time next year!"

We made it through another year complete with it’s good days and bad, disasters; natural… Continue

Christmas: Sitrep 1 and Final

My first Christmas as an official member of the Fire Service went pretty well. It all started a couple of Thursdays ago when I rode escort while Santa Claus made a tour of several local subdivisions.I was aboard one of our booster trucks, Santa was aboard Engine 5 which is a retired engine used for parades and such. We are fortunate that with fuel prices and such we can still afford to carry on this tradition for our community. While Santa makes his rounds throwing candy to the kids along the… Continue

Christmas TGI Friday 2008

As we sprint to the end of a most difficult year, our minds are boggled by the events 2008 rained upon us. We need this Christmas, possibly more than any in our lifetime. The promise that Christmas brings could be the only thing that puts any Hope into our hearts and minds that God is here among us. I thought last year was a rough year, and after the events of this year, I will personally rip 2008's Calendar off the wall and throw it in the fire. As I went over my Christmas list this year, I… Continue

Woman Sued for Rescue Effort in Car Crash

Legal Experts Say California Ruling Could Make Good Samaritans Hesitate

No good deed goes unpunished, or so goes the saying.

A paralyzed woman is suing a former co-worker for moving her from a car accident

Such was the case with Lisa Torti, who is being sued for pulling a now-paralyzed friend from the wreckage of a Los Angeles car accident in 2004.

The victim's lawyers claim the Good Samaritan bumbled the rescue and caused injury by yanking… Continue

"Everybody wants a warning.'It's Christmas time give me a… Continue

You ever have those days that make you wonder. Where everytime someone opens there mouth you wonder WTF! Days that just make you think who are the people with out commonsense? The people who we go help, or the people responding?

Sometimes I think we are our own worse enemy. We have so many providers out there that can take something as minor as a door pop on a minor accident, and turn it into a major mvc with entrapments. Sometimes I think the news media has more sense then our own… Continue

What's happening around Northwest Florida ... Lynn Haven keeps tightening belt, not looking at new tax

LYNN HAVEN — Lynn Haven residents will not be charged a fee for fire service, city officials said Wednesday.

A year ago, the City Commission passed a resolution that allows the implementation of such a fee down the road, if deemed necessary.

Commissioner Roger Schad said that while he expects economic conditions to deteriorate further before a recovery happens, he thinks the city can survive by continuing other cost-cutting measures.

"We're keeping the option of… Continue

" What Christmas Means To Me "

To me Christmas is about families coming together from all over the world that may only see each other once a year,

sharing laughter, gifts, good food, and reminiscing about humerous and meaningful events of the past. It's also remembering those loved ones who are no longer with us but who will never be forgotten through the retelling of heartwarming stories about them. We should not be consumed by flashy commercialism and over-indulgence but spend a few moments reflecting on the true… Continue
