"Click It Or Ticket" Has Greater Meaning Starting Today/65 New State Laws Going Into Effect July 1st

Police no longer need another reason to pull you over if they catch you driving without a seat belt and officers all over the state are already handing out hefty tickets.

The new law also allows insurance companies to fight accident claims. If you're in an accident and you don't have on your seatbelt, there is a provision in the new seat belt law that allows insurance companies to fight the personal injury portion of your claim.

Click it or you will get a… Continue

No Warnings For Not Wearing Seatbelt

Starting Tuesday, drivers will have to buckle up or pay up. Police, deputies and state troopers in Florida will be able to pull drivers over for not wearing a seat belt.

In the past, officers could only write seat belt tickets if they pulled you over for another reason. Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Chris Miller said troopers will write $30 tickets for anyone caught not wearing a belt. He said they won't be giving any warnings.

With court fees, it could range from… Continue

Obama team skipping mayors' event over firefighters' picket line

Steering clear of a messy labor dispute, the White House said yesterday that Vice President Joe Biden and other members of President Obama's Cabinet have scrapped plans to attend a national mayors' conference in Rhode Island next weekend rather than cross a picket line of local firefighters.

Presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs said the Obama administration will redouble its efforts to work with the nation's mayors in other ways, including a fresh invitation for the mayors to come to… Continue

Grab And Go: Packing An Emergency Preparedness Kit Is Easy - And Essential

Just as every home should have a smoke alarm, every home should have an emergency supply kit packed and ready at the start of hurricane season.

Preparing for the potential devastation of a hurricane isn't just the job of emergency management officials. It's also an individual responsibility, said Phil May, regional administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

"You should be prepared to take care of yourself and members of… Continue
