Student Arrested On Drug Charges After Explosion In UCF Dorm

According to the State Fire Marshal, a student fell asleep late Sunday night while attempting to convert a prescription drug into meth and the concoction exploded. When the explosion rocked the dorm around midnight, students didn't know what to think.

USS New York

It was built with 24 tons of scrap steel from the World Trade Center .

It is the fifth in a new class of warship - designed for missions that include special operations against terrorists. It will carry a crew of 360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines to be delivered ashore by helicopters and assault craft.

Man Dies From Burns After Falling Asleep While Smoking

An Orange County man died from his burn injuries Friday and the State Fire Marshal said the victim was smoking a cigarette when he fell asleep in his home on Kreidt Drive near Hiawassee Road.

Lonel Franklin, 36, lost the fight for his life late Friday morning.

"His kidneys shut down and they said there's nothing else they can really do," Fatima Franklin told Eyewitness News on Friday afternoon.

Flaming Pet Rat Starts Fire, Damages Titusville Home [Note* This is the reason firefighters will never be out of a job]

A pet rat, a piece of twine and some questionable judgment ended with a Brevard County home in flames. David Stanifer and two friends were inside the home on Friars Court in Brevard County when the fire started early Monday morning.

Stanifer and two other people were chasing the rat, named Amelia Earhart, around the house.

Fla. firefighters protest county medical director

Urgent Message to Our Ohio USFRA Members and Friends - Donations of Blood and Platelets needed for toddler, Corey Nickell

Since February 2007 Corey Nickell , the very young son of Captain Jim Nickell of Milford Community Fire Department in Ohio, has been battling cancer. Corey was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer and went through a regiment of treatment with the Cincinnati Children's Hospital. He made great progress and was doing fairly well.

Florida Volunteer Aiding Ike Victims in Texas Dies Trying to Rescue Dogs

Three dogs rescued by Houston animal-control officers after a Hurricane Ike relief worker died trying to reach them are back with their owner, but a Florida man hailed as a hero may be buried as a pauper.

Robert "Bob" Emery, who was from Florida and in Texas to help clear storm debris, died late Saturday after dashing onto the East Freeway to reach the dogs who were huddled in the emergency lane against a cement median. He was struck by a passing motorcycle.
