As I travel the USA I see these Firework Stands pop up everywhere. I see many issues and problems with them. From the storage trailers not being marked with the USDOT Orange Explosive 1.4 marking too stands operating with NO FIE EXTINGUISHERS!I have seen one over the weekend within 50 feet of the stand in south eastern Nebraska stand workers having a bottle rocket fight and smoking! WOW what could of happened?
Why.....why.....why in the world would a fire department allow these stands too operate without a permit, employees properly trained with fire extinguishers, proper fire extinguishers in place, NO SMOKING SIGNS POSTED, NO FIREWORK DISCHARGE WITHIN 1,000 FEET.....(make the discharge area more is more then what is needs too be for the just in case......and extended safety area).
To solve this issue is too have the Fire Department enforce a Firework Stand Operations Permit if the county allows the sales of such items. Make the permit around $5,000.00 and make the operator provide the fire extinguisher training, firework safety and ensure that NO SMOKING AND OR DISCHARGE IS NOT DONE WITHIN 1,000 feet of the business.
These are being used at FIREWORK STANDS WITHOUT THE FOLLOWING BEING PLACED ON THE CONTAINER.
As we know firework stands can range in size form a very small 20'X 20' foot building too a massive 70'X 100' tent. I have even seen this over the weekend being used for a firework stand.
The fire service is instilled with the utmost trust too ensure the public is safe at all times. As such....it is in the interest of the fire department either a volunteer or paid fire department that very strict firework stand safety is promoted and instilled for the public at all times.
