An off-duty Halifax Regional Police officer died when his minivan crashed head-on with a tractor trailer on Highway 104 on Tuesday.
Tony Carlisle, 41, was travelling west in the eastbound lane on the divided highway when the collision happened sometime after 10 p.m.
A 14-year veteran of the Halifax police force, Const. Carlisle worked with the patrol division but also spent six years in the criminal investigation division and worked with the drug unit and general investigation section.
He was the father of four children.
Both his brother and his sister-in-law are members of Halifax Regional Police. His father was a former chief of the Fredericton police force..
