City Government demands all keys to properties belonging to Cedar Falls residents.
Ordinance #2740( An unfunded city-wide mandate) was passed with a resounding 6 to 1 vote, and it allows for the citizens of Cedar Falls to forcefully give the government keys to their comercial properties through universal 'lock boxes'. The intent of the program is to provide increased safety and protection to personal, private property which include businesses, apartments and some rental houses-- which by the way-- comes at the expense of furthering wayward erosion of fundamental constitutional rights.

Are these people serious? We go to war to protect the American people and their freedoms and we come back to this nonsense? Thank God I don't live there or that town meeting would have had an entirely different outcome. What a bunch of power hungry morons! As a firefighter, I see NO reason for the fire department to have ANY part in that mess, because if someone's home is on fire, the last thing that should concern the home or business owner is whether we have a key to the lock. Besides that, what self respecting firefighter would open a door to a home that's fully involve? This whole thing just smacks of nothing but power and control and that Fire Chief is a disgrace to the profession.

What baffles me is the fire chief is in on this total invasion of private property. As a police officer, I find this highly offensive and if implemented in my district, I would have to sadly resign and find a new career. I already engage in some practices that goes against the grain of my Constitutional conscience, but this would be pushing it over the edge. This law can not possibly stand.
