Raw: US Cop Pulls Out A Gun During Snowball Fight

Around 2.30PM on Saturday, December 19, during a historic snowstorm, residents at the intersection of 14th and U Streets NW started throwing snowballs at passing Hummers.

One of the cars pelted was driven by a plainclothes police officer identified only as Det. Baylor. Baylor got out of his car and brandished his gun at the crowd.

Reason.tv's Dan Hayes was on the scene, capturing the tense c More..confrontation between police and citizens who chanted "Don't bring a gun to a snowball fight!"

Approximately 5 minutes; harsh language throughout.

Ridicklus !
If he felt the "crowd" was a threat because of snowball throwing to on-comming vehicles, just break up the crowd.
This situtation could have become worse, doing what he [officer] did. By pulling out he gun, arresting someone in the crowd. Bad judgement, over something simple to control.

He should be fired. I don't understand why he felt the need to take out his gun. Cops are not suppose to do that unless their life is in danger, right? So, what was the point?

Reports show that he's being "investigated". LOL! We all know what that means, it will be forgotten and he will be on his way to a lucrative retirement.

This happened 19DEC. Does any one know the result of this?

He's NOT a police officer, this "man" is a THUG! He should lose his job as well as his bennies. Case Closed!

I have to agree with Fyre and Lloyd, this dude needs to lose his job AND forced into a psych-eval. He went looking for a fight, he wasn't singled out and he branished his weapon as well as abusing the public. I can't believe the other police officers backed him up. They should have made him get back in his vehicle and leave in order to calm the crowd down, instead he got to throw someone up against his hummer. What an ass. People like him scare me too Lloyd.
Lloyd Comment by Lloyd on January 6, 2010 at 4:32pm
this guy should have his badge taken away and forced into psy. eval. if he is having a "bad day" he should confine himself 2 his house. kinda like the cop in our town that took down a kid 4 skate boarding on the sidewalk. r these guys gods? scares the daylights out out of me that he still has a gun.
FyreWebmaster Comment by FyreWebmaster on January 6, 2010 at 4:28pm
Having a bad day? That's laughable. He was totally unprofessional and dangerous, God-forbid his weapon discharged somehow and hit someone. Then he would be facing a manslaughter charge and someone would be minus a family member. He wasn't under any imminent threat, so he had no reason to draw his weapon. He could have stayed in his vehicle and called for backup if he wanted to press charges for someone assaulting his vehicle, but he did none of that. He wanted to show that he was a badass. He should lose his job, he's a walking time bomb.
