A train runs over a fire department 4 inch hose which was laid across the track during a working fire in Maine. The fire department notified the wrong railroad about the active hose on the track. This mistake could have endangered the lives of firefighters using this water source as protection. This video is a must see for all fire departments. Know your town/city including which track belongs to which railroad. Fire departments with multiple railroads running through their communities should train yearly on identification of crossings including the names and contact numbers of each railroad they may be involved with. As a minimum, this training should be made available to all dispatchers as well as all fire department officers/drivers.
