Thank You

I swerved into the left lane to avoid another a car

Guess I, yanked the steering wheel just a little bit too far

And all I remember is staring at the flames, the fire crew pulled me out

And To: The crew that came, I didn’t get the chance to catch your names

But I want to thank you for saving my life

I am alive and well and you’re the reason why

You are my heroes through and through

And I admire the job you do, and I want to thank you

She turned for just a minute and like that her son was gone

She ran outside to find him and saw him fall in the pond

She called 911, that mother she can’t swim, when the officer showed up

He just jumped on in, if not for that cop, what might have been?

Sir, I want to thank you for saving his life

He is alive and well and you’re the reason why

You are a hero through and through

And I admire the job you do, and I want to thank you

We see you running toward those fires, mudslides and floods

And chasing down those bad guys with guns

When you’re out there on front-line, just know we’re backing you

To every Cop, EMT, and Fire Crew

We want to thank you for risking your lives

We know you’re here for us every day and every night

You are our heroes through and through

And we admire the jobs you do, and we want to thank you

Back story from Karen Loveless:

We wrote this song with hope that all Public Servants hear this message. I am a retired Firefighter/EMT with 23 years of service. When I retired I became a professional songwriter. And I felt this message needed to be said. One of the co-writers Jared Eaves is a Nashville Police Officer and he is the vocalist on the song as well.

As someone who understands all that comes with the job for Public Servants, Cops, Fire, EMT, Dispatchers and how it truly feels to be out there on the front line, we know first hand how it feels when some says Thank You. My response when I heard those words was, It was my pleasure, I'm glad we could be there for you. Privately, I never quite knew how to internalize it, but I always felt a sense of gratefulness for having the skills to make a difference in ones life. And sometimes just hearing Thank You was enough...

Today's world has so many heightened events that the general pubic and Public servants have to face, it's truly hard to image how one goes about processing it all. PTSD is real, and appears to be very much affecting those one the frontline as well...my heart bleeds for them, as does the general public's hearts. We see and hear what they face on the news, we see and face them everyday in our own lives..they are our calming link to help, and peace, whenever we need them they are there!

It took us a couple of years to figure out how to write this song. As a public servant I never considered myself to be a hero, nor do any of the public servants I know consider themselves to be a hero. We just look at it as we are doing our job! But the public and victims look at us differently, they do view Public servants as hero's...we become their best friend in their most dire time of need...so, once I stepped back from my point of view and looked at it from a victims point of view, it became easier for us to write!

Most people in our country want and do tell Public Servants, Thank You! We see those signs they hold up, we see them shaking public servants hands and and hear them say thank you. Example on a bigger scale...Verizon's TV Commercial for First Responders, and it's about time public servants become recognized, and not just in the time of need!

So, this is our small way of saying Thank You to all First Responders, as well a speaking for the general public..WE want to say Thank You, and to us the general public, you are heroes. Without public servants there would be no peace!

I pray everyday for those on the front line, for those who have given their lives and for their families...thank you just does not even seem like enough.

The songwriters on this song are:

Karen Loveless-(Retired Firefighter EMT)

Jared Eaves-(Nashville Police Officer-Vocalist)

Scott Joyce-(Producer)

If our song can touch just one sole in the field, we have done our job! Thank you for the opportunity to explain the backstory of our song. Each verse was based a real run in our fields. KL
