Good MOrning All

Well its Monday 22 May 2011 and the weather here is wet and warm or maybe humid, but first lets bow our heads in prayer forr the lives that were lost in Missouri from the twister or bad wind storm . . . . . . . . . . ., Amen.

I may complain about the snow, rain and the cold weather we get but I am sure glad we don't get the mud slides, flooding and the flooding we do get is nothing like them in the south, also we don't get the twisters or hurricanes. I feel sorry for them people and… Continue

> FRAMINGHAM — Chairman Dennis Giombetti, on behalf of the Board of Selectmen, has put up a $1,000 reward for the return of late Firefighter Mike Urban's helmet, which thieves stole after his funeral last week.

> "No questions asked," Fire Chief Gary Daugherty said today. "We just want the helmet back."

Safety Ropes

For all my New York friends, and others states you may want to check your laws on this.

The New york State Labor Department has begun to cite Fire Departments in New York State for violations of a recently enacted statute requiring that proper procedures be in place to prepare for the purchase of bail out and evacuation equipment for interior firefighters.

The statute required a Risk Assessment be accomplished by March 27, equipment be purchased by April 20 and training on the… Continue

Hello All;

Here I sit looking out my window in my computer room/Command Post at home (scanner, 2 meter, HF radio's, computer) next to me and some time all are on at once. What a noise, but I am wondering how some of this stuff you read on web sites about Ambulances being taken, how about the one just lately where the meds were in the back working on someone and a drunk came up and took it for a ride, or you read radio's are missing, or other fire equipment missing from the…

The Winter Driving and Tires

Well its Friday 2010 and the snow here is coming down pretty good, maybe not as much as where my wife's sister lives in Scotland as they had about 10cm before Christmas and now its doubled and they are talking about running out of salt/sand for the roadways, that is not good if all the snow states know what I mean, the driving becomes worst then with the salt/sand, this would shut them down for quite some time as they are not use to getting alot of snow, I believe they may get about 2 - 3… Continue

Year End

First I want to say HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone one and I hope everyone got everything they wanted for Christmas and hope none of you drove after drinking any type of alcohol. And remember to wear your seat belt's and for those of us in the snow states, remember our winter driving skills, as I want to hear everyone back here in 2010. With that out of the way here goes nothing.

I have been looking and reading different mags. articles on the Police side and all the new techy stuff like… Continue

Firefighter Survial

This goes along with my recent photo's that I have added to my page, all these years we the training officers and Chief's and so on always showed us how to get into a fire and what we should do once we are in the structure, well now its time to do the same but also what we (firefighter) need to do on getting out in case of emergency or if we run into problems inside. This course was intensive training developed in response to the tragic deaths of many firefighters across the nation in the past… Continue

Memorial Day

Well here I go and try and write something about Memorial Day in the USA. I am not good at writting and when I do I usually have my wife check to be sure its understandable if you know what I mean.

Memorial Day is usually the last monday in May. Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to hornor Union soldiers of the American Civil War, it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of… Continue

The Firefighter(s)

I just read an article in a magazine lately that had to do with firefighters who wear funny, weired and sometime just plain disgusting sayings. The article goes on saying, while the speaker was giving one of the fire service talks he has seen some pretty weired sayings on tee-shirts that we(first responders) wear in the public places, like the ones about Big Johnson's, FD, and Redneck this and Redneck that. The article states that we wonder why we are talked about how rude, or when we drink and… Continue
