Here I sit looking out my window in my computer room/Command Post at home (scanner, 2 meter, HF radio's, computer) next to me and some time all are on at once. What a noise, but I am wondering how some of this stuff you read on web sites about Ambulances being taken, how about the one just lately where the meds were in the back working on someone and a drunk came up and took it for a ride, or you read radio's are missing, or other fire equipment missing from the fire house or fire scene. Where the he_ _ did it go, back to the factory for maint, or how about in the hands of some nut, or just maybe a terrorist, they sure could use a ambulance and the fire tools, radio's radios from the police were just missing I believe I read from some where, why don't we just send all this to them and say HEY, can you use this stuff cause we don't. We need to take care of our equipment and have someone standing by when we are working in the back of our rigs, and the tools better accountability and radio's how can they come up missing, there again accountability, maybe a day or two off without pay, sure you are running down the road chasing someone and the radio falls, how are you going to call in that you have your suspect in cuffs or you need more man power at the fire scene, and tools check before you leave, that is one thing we made sure we did all the time where I worked, you signed the sheet at the start of your shift that all the equipment was there, and now its gone, like I said before maybe it went back to the factory, yea right we are just to da_ careless. That goes for our driving, lights and siren going faster then us and bang we never though about the intersection, did we kill someone or maybe are we dead, we need to take that extra second or two and check its it ok for me to go, PLEASE, PLEASE take your time and wear your seat belt and watch out for the other person, make sure you have all your tools, and equipment and radio's.
Sorry if I seem to be babbling on but I read to much of what I have just typed about and it not just in our country or my state (NY), its everywhere, and its also I'll bet in the military. So, never mind just take care wear your seat belt(s) and see ya soon.
