I just read an article in a magazine lately that had to do with firefighters who wear funny, weired and sometime just plain disgusting sayings. The article goes on saying, while the speaker was giving one of the fire service talks he has seen some pretty weired sayings on tee-shirts that we(first responders) wear in the public places, like the ones about Big Johnson's, FD, and Redneck this and Redneck that. The article states that we wonder why we are talked about how rude, or when we drink and get in to that state of rowedyness and we either have our own company shirts or have another companies shirt on, maybe we need to step back and say Hey, do I want to disgrace my fire dept. or some other company, I know some of us don't care, all we know is we got this really cool shirt on that's all that matters. I have to agree with the writer of the article who goes on and says fire depts., all cry when the public look at us and say there's another one of those drunken firemen, all they do is drink and drink, the public don't always see what we do when we are in our training mode or the long hours at a working house fire, or how we are pulling someone out of a car accident, all they see is us drunk and wearing those nasty shirts, and remember those eyes are watching us at the car accident or when we are in rehab. If you want to be proud wear you company shirt at the rescue calls, fires no those nasty ones.
After reading this article I can say I have never done this myself, yes I do have other shirts from local and out of state fire deptartments shirts but I don't go out and get, on rulely. I try and keep a cool approach and just have a good time, and when I see these people I just shake my head and say "I wonder if the Chief knows these guy's/gals are wearing there so called colors. Let's all try and change this, and next time we are out wearing someone elses fire department tee shirt or even our own shirt lets act like we are in church. These are my own feelings, sure I use to drink and no I'm no angel by far, but I don't act like a fool.
REMEMBER SOMEONE IS ALWAYS WATCHING
