Moreover, each live scenario is unique and nothing here should supplement an officer’s own cumulative training, experience, and personal judgment responding to such live scenarios. On Dec. 18, 2018 Noble, Oklahoma Police Sgt. Joshua Lesher pulled over 37-year-old Layland Lewis, Jr. Lewis gave the sergeant a false name as he knew he was wanted on suspicion of armed robbery. Recently released body and dash camera videos shows the moment Lewis pulled a gun on the sergeant.
Sgt. Lesher spotted the gun and redirected the muzzle while he drew his own gun and shot Lewis three times. Lewis lived and Sgt. Lesher was cleared in the shooting. Lewis was treated and subsequently charged with the armed robbery as well as felony assault and battery with a dangerous weapon against Lesher.
