I have been reading again,
How to successfully recruit volunteers, and that can be firefighters and EMS. We all need to know what makes your volunteers volunteer, is it the free Beer, food or other parties or is it a true volunteer , someone who wants to give back to their community. What do they like about your volunteer dept. or dislikes maybe, that why they joined another deptment. I know for sure here in my area you have to go throught a class called Firefighter 1 which is atleast 30 classes all 3 hrs. long and its hard going for some as you are put throught actual smoke and heat filled burn towers, and there is classroom training and test all this is a must before becoming a firefighter and some departments have there own traing bbeyound the State courses, I have seen alot get through and some that say heck with this and quit, they were not meant to be a firefighter and or ems.
