This is a request for a used engine following the Line of Duty Death of a young Firefighter on the US/Mexico Border. Their apparatus was destroyed, a Firefighter remains in ICU, and another gave her life.
==WHAT HAPPENED:
On the morning of July 31, a rollover crash was reported, where multiple people were injured on a highway. 2 members of the Los Algodones Fire Department were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
They were returning from a house fire when a car pulled out in front of them. They pulled out of the cars' way to avoid a crash, and the fire truck overturned.
Firefighter Melissa Galván, 22, was initially severely injured and was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead in the Line of Duty. The other Firefighter, Miguel (the operator), was injured and remains in intensive care. He has 30 years on the job.
Firefighter Galván's husband and her father are firefighters as well.
==THE REQUEST:
They had one engine and have one ambulance in their firehouse, leaving them with just the ambulance for now.
IF YOU HAVE OR KNOW OF THE AVAILABILITY OF A USED-BUT USABLE ENGINE THAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED TO BE DONATED, PLEASE CONTACT:
Station Officer David Estaban Barbosa - Los Algodones Fire Department (Bomberos)
==RELATED INFORMATION:
Their fire station handles 150 calls a month, approximately 1,800 calls a year with many of their calls assisting American citizens (due to close proximity) visiting the community.
