USFRA's Shielding Our Heroes is a new program planned as part of our multi-faceted "Help Protect Those Who Protect Us" safety campaign for first responders.

The Shielding Our Heroes program is using donations from Partners and Sponsors and others to cover the costs of installing security and safety window film on Fire, EMS and Law Enforcement K9 vehicles.

Over the past few years there have been numerous attacks on first responder vehicles with rocks, bricks, bottles filled with dangerous chemicals, bats and more during civil unrest incidents resulting in broken windows and access to occupants. Plus natural disasters and accidents can also damage apparatus windows and personnel.

Upon impact, or after a window shatters, safety and security window film can help hold together fragments of glass maintaining barrier continuity adding an extra layer of protection for crews.

Some other benefits of film include tints to provide protection from heat and UV light, plus certain films allows mobile devices, GPS or satellite radio reception to stay connected without interference.

One of USFRA’s premiere partners, Mast-Jägermeister, is the initial sponsor of this program plus some other companies have expressed interest in joining the launch and rollout to assist with possibly getting a spokesperson(s), choose specific agencies and areas to help, and more.

The controlled rollout of Shielding Our Heroes will start in Destin, Florida (close to where USFRA is based), and expand across the state then the nation as funds allow. Installations may also depend on the proximity of Fire, EMS and K9 unit agencies’ vehicles to dealer network locations.
